Summer Series: P3

Psalm rocks

I CANNOT believe it’s June.  In my house, we measure our years by the school year, so even my children have said, “Man, Mom!  It was like, Christmas yesterday!” {actual quote}

As for many of you ladies, your children’s school year is coming to a close, and summer plans are already creeping into the calendar.  Your schedule now becomes their schedule.  Yet, for a whole ton more of you, life keeps going on as usual!!  You may be a hot-stuff working gal with a job that doesn’t take a summer vacation.  You may be a Grandma who may or may not get more of the grandkids than you’d like!  {insert winkie-face emoji}  You may be a student yourself and school turns into a full-time job for the summer.

Well, we here at AG are NOT taking a vacation!  Cross our hearts!  We ARE, however, scaling back a little bit on our posting days.  In other words, look for new posts every Tuesday and Thursday.  Most likely, we’ll throw in a “Sunday Special” here and there ~ promise.  It’ll be good.

Here’s something to consider no matter what these next three summer months look like to you:  OUR PURSUIT OF JESUS CANNOT TAKE A VACATION.  That’s where we’d like to provide some opportunities for all of us to not only connect with each other, but to God and his Word for us.

We’re going Old Testament and hitting some rich and personal Scriptures from the books of Psalms, Proverbs, and Prophetic Books {Isaiah – Malachi}.  That’s where we get P3.  Each post will be written by a different Grace Chapel lady, {yes, YOU CAN BE ONE OF THEM!!} from some of our regular monthly writers, and maybe a few from the AG blog admin gals.  Each post will be shorter in length and reflective of the chosen scriptures.

Keep coming back.

Read from your sisters in Christ.

Listen to what God may be saying to you in this season.

“He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.  Many will see what he has done and be amazed.  They will put their trust in the LORD.”  Psalms 40:3

I have this verse scribbled on a scrap of paper and it’s sitting on my bedside table.  The part of this verse that completely stands out to me  is: “He has given me a new song to sing…“.  Which is…” a hymn of praise to our God.  So it prompts me to ask myself, “What IS my new song?”   David, the writer, just a few verses previous to vs. 3 talks about how he waited patiently for the Lord TO HELP and that God “turned to me and heard my cry”.  Then he was “lifted out of the pit of despair…” and his feet were “on solid ground”.  And wait!  There’s more!  Verse 2 at the end says, “and steadied me as I walked along.”  {this is NLT translation}

The words that stand out to me are:  TURNED, HEARD, LIFTED, SET, STEADIED, GIVEN.  All of these are active words. Verbs.  …Ladies.  He’s active still!  What will God do in you this season?  What new song will we sing to Him?  Verse 3 is cause and effect:  “Many will see what he has done and be amazed…and put their trust in the Lord.”  Why?  Because of what He has done in our lives and that we have sung about it to those around us!

I am beyond excited to see what comes of these next few months.  How God will grow us closer to Himself, the Spirit, and His Son.  PLEASE, don’t hesitate to email me at this email address  if you would like to write for the blog this summer.  Meanwhile, keep singing.

My family and I have attended Grace for 4 1/2 years.  I work with Grade School students in Reading Interventions and I LOVE to create.  And I love coffee, and chocolate, and long walks on the beach…wait.
