P3: Psalms, Proverbs, and Prophets
Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation! Selah
Our God is the God of salvation;
And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.
I’ve been reminded lately that I can sometimes get caught thinking that Heaven, salvation, and all of its benefits are somehow meant for sometime later. Salvation can sometimes feel like that proverbial “ticket to Heaven” or “pie in the sky, when you die” promise that Jesus won on the cross, for us as born-again Christians. Even though Jesus was not yet physically on the scene in the Old Testament Psalms, God was actively laying a foundation for a biblical understanding of salvation throughout.
The salvation package not only includes a ticket to our forever home in Heaven but it provides for us everything that we need to live out our lives on Earth with victory! The Lord “daily loads us with benefits.” This is a really huge topic and I don’t even begin to scratch the surface here but it’s good to review just what our salvation package includes. The following are some very important components but this is nowhere near a complete list:
Abundant life (Jn 10:10)
Boldness (Eph. 3:12)
Comfort (1 Cor. 1:3-6)
Companionship (Heb. 13:5)
Confidence (1 Jn 5:14)
Deliverance (Col. 1:13)
Forgiveness (Eph. 1:7)
Freedom (Jn 8:32)
Healing (1 Pet. 2:24)
Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13)
Joy (Jn 15:11)
Peace (Jn 14:27)
Power to overcome (Rom. 6:14)
Protection (Luke 10:19)
Provision (Mt 6:33)
Security (Rom. 8:35)
Strength (Ps 18:2)
Victory (2 Cor. 2:14).
Could you happen to use any of these things in your life today? Are you currently facing a situation where some of this might come in handy? Well, I have some very good news, ladies: we don’t have to wait to get to Heaven in order to receive what Jesus did for us! We really need to be walking in, deliberately receiving, and applying the whole salvation package daily!
If we are to make a difference in this dark world… if we are to be the salt and light God called us to be…if we are to have the victory in our own lives and overcome, it’s time to be called-out, burning ones living from a heavenly inheritance and not anything less.
Ephesians 2:6 puts it like this: “And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus.” (Amplified Version)
We have access now, to all of the above and more today–if we will choose to operate from our Heavenly place and the full salvation package that Christ provides for us.
