Express Yourself: Sherri Brown

Lilacs 2

Worship, in my opinion, has many sides to it.
What does it look like for you?
Singing a song? Giving praise and thanks to God?
How does one bow down and give honor to the King of Kings?
Does a song inspire you? A flower? How about a sunset or birds singing?
What stirs your soul stirs His.

Often, for me, one way of expressing worship
is to sit at His feet in a sun-filled room;
the smell of lilacs fill my senses
and I just delight in Him and He in me.

Quieting myself
in the stillness –
sensing His nearness,
cloaked with His presence.

Tears roll down my face –
a swelling rises up from inside me,
a rush of hope and goodness washes over me.

Like a magnet, He draws me;
the cares of life vanish.

Living out who I was designed to be,
giving of myself in sacrifice,
laying down my life for a friend,
caring for the sick and vulnerable –
all is worship.

Giving value to another,
showing respect and honor for another,
loving the unlovely –
all is worship.

Watching a baby being born and placed in its mother’s arms,
watching a person die and be born into Heaven’s arms,
to sing, dance, love, write, act, twirl and play…with abandon –
all is worship.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before;
we live to worship His holy name.

    I am so sorry you lost your husband. God will give you the strength to move forward I walked alongside my best friend for 7 years after her husband died, then I became her match-maker and we found an amazing Christian man for her. Hope is there just be strong as I know you are. God bless you.
